Algae

Norwegian kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum) is brown seaweed largely found off the coast of Norway and Iceland. It contains a number of minerals and trace elements in highly usable form, as well as a large amount of iodine that promotes normal thyroid function. Kelp is known for its positive effect on teeth and gums. It helps reduce tartar deposits, reducing the risk of gum disease. If tartar is already present, kelp softens it so that it’s easy to scrape off with a brush or nail. Feeding kelp also eliminates odour from the oral cavity, which is especially appreciated by dog owners. Kelp improves coat quality and skin condition, acts preventively against infections and enriches the diet with valuable substances (minerals, vitamins, trace elements)

Spirulina is a fibrous cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). It is a rich source of proteins, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants (vitamin E, carotenoids) and essential fatty acids (containing gamma-linolenic acid). Spirulina prevents oxidative damage by capturing free radicals. This indirectly reduces the risk of developing a tumour in the body. It also contains chlorophyll and phycocyanin. Chlorophyll is a green pigment and important substance for plants as it absorbs energy from the sun and helps the plant synthesise carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water during photosynthesis. It has a positive effect on the blood count of both animals and humans (it promotes the formation of haemoglobin and the production of red blood cells). Phycocyanin is a supplementary photosynthetic pigment, also involved in the process of photosynthesis. It is involved in regulating the activity of enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase and others that play a role in protecting cells from free radicals.
